In this class we will flow through movements of gratitude – opening our hearts to giving and receiving. Through graceful and fluid motion you will begin to unite with your unique body, cultivating a yoga practice filled with kindness, compassion, generosity and love for oneself and all beings creating a path to world peace.
This is a vinyasa class (postures flow from one to the next in conjunction with breath) with sequencing based on harmonizing the chakras. Class includes postures that promote prana (energy/chi) circulation, chants for world peace, meditation and relaxation. Through positive energy and intention we will create a focused field of peace, joy, light and abundance that will radiate into the world. Be prepared to practice sun salutations, standing, balancing and seated postures, inversions and more! Different levels are accommodated.
World Peace Yoga is a class unique to Gratitude in Motion. Inspiration for the class came from ancient yoga teachings, the philosophy of ahimsa (non-violence) and the book The World Peace Diet, written by Will Tuttle. It is a class that incorporates physical wellness with spiritual living. It is a practice that touches more than just one aspect of life and motivates a positive transformation in individual and collective lives.
OM
Om is the original and most powerful mantra. It is a universal vibration you can feel through your body, mind and soul. By chanting om you are sending out a positive vibration to all living creatures in the universe; at the same time, this vibration becomes the sound of inner peace.
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu
May all beings everywhere be happy and free. May I offer my life to that happiniess and freedom. May my actions contribute to the liberation of others.
Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
Peace, Peace, Peace
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex and it refers to the seven main energy systems of which our consciousness, our energy system, is composed.
The chakras or energy centers function as pumps or valves, regulating the flow of prana (energy/chi) through our energy system. The functioning of the chakras reflects decisions we make concerning how we choose to respond to the conditions of our life. We open and close these valves when we decide what to think, what to feel, and through which perceptual filter we choose to experience the world around us.
The chakras are not physical. They are aspects of consciousness. We can use the physical postures of yoga to balance the chakras and bring our body, mind and spirit in harmony.
