DeafYoga: A Visual Yoga Experience

This Deaf-focused yoga class is perfect for those interested in experiencing a visual yoga class. The class is presented in American Sign Language (ASL) and open to all experience levels.

All too often there are expectations that Deaf community members can and should enter hearing yoga classes and that it is easy to follow along. This yoga class is designed for yoga aspirants and/or teachers that want to step into the reverse experience - participate in an ASL-only, visual yoga class. You will see how simple it is to follow along, as well as gain some insight into how to make simple accommodations for Deaf yogis. Open to all and everyone is encouraged to attend, regardless of ASL knowledge.

This class is specifically designed to bring the powerful benefits of yoga to the Deaf. It's intention is to serve the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community members. It includes an introduction to basic yoga asanas (postures), breathing and relaxation. Emphasis will be placed on reducing stress and tension and improving circulation.
