About Jivamukti Yoga:

Jivamukti Yoga is a style of yoga in which the goal is focused on throughout a rigorous physical practice so you can be empowered to be a vehicle for positive change in the world. In this practice, ahimsa (non-violence), bhakti (enlightenment/god-realization/devotion), meditation, nada (yoga of deep inner listening), scripture and chanting are all present.

About Julie Kirkpatrick:

David Life and Sharon Gannon, the founders of the Jivamukti Yoga method,  have been Julie's teachers since they began teaching yoga in 1986 in a New York City basement on Ave. B. With their encouragement and support, Julie completed the Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training program in May 2003, apprenticed under Natalie Ullmann, and passed the Jivamukti Advance Certification Board in 2005. Julie teaches according to what she has learned (and continues to learn!) in her alliance with David and Sharon, always using their creative teachings as her source of inspiration. As Sharon instructed, Julie teaches a class, "that she would like to take herself." According to the Jivamukti method, Julie incorporates meditation, devotion to a higher source, yoga scriptures, inspirational music, and asana practice that leads the practitioner into a deepening of the experience of a spiritual/yoga journey. She is inspired by her teacher's teachers, Sri Brahmananda Saraswati, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sri Swami Nirmalananda, as well by the study of Sanskrit inspired by Manorma D'Alvia, and the journey of life as inspired by her children, Jules and Alex Febre.  In the past 6 years Julie taught open and basic level classes, children’s yoga classes, and prenatal yoga classes in New York City at the Jivamukti Yoga School. She also assists David and Sharon and teaches at the Wild Woodstock Intensive classes held annually in August at the Wild Woodstock Jivamukti Ashram in upstate Woodstock, New York. She is currently teaching Jivamukti classes in upstate New York.
